Cold War

COLD WAR is one of the best crime thrillers to come out of Hong Kong in a very long time. Boasting an all-star cast, an intricate plot and explosive action it is easy to see why COLD WAR became Hong Kong’s biggest box office hit of the year.

The film swept the board at The Hong Kong Film Awards and opened the Busan International Film Festival.

Winner of 9 awards at the 2013 Hong Kong Film Awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor (Tony LEUNG Ka-fai) and Best Screenplay.

COLD WAR mixes fast paced and explosive action with a subtle commentary on Hong Kong’s law, it’s status and it’s ever changing identity since the handover back to China.

It is just before midnight at the Hong Kong police headquarters when an anonymous call comes in. The authorities are informed of a fully-loaded police van carrying the force’s most advanced equipment along with five highly trained officers that have just been hijacked.

The police must now meet a list of demands to ensure the hostages’ release, including the delivery of a large ransom. Any delay will cost lives but the hijackers possess direct knowledge of police procedures and are already several steps ahead.

As the clock ticks down, rival Deputy Commissioners Sean Lau (Aaron KWOK) and Waise Lee (Tony LEUNG Ka-Fai) fight to take charge of the rescue operation, code named COLD WAR.
